Two recent site tours showcased the exciting progress at Vista Canyon and put a spotlight on the first two structures well under construction in the community’s town center area: a striking three-story, mixed-used retail office (Santa Clarita’s first creative office building) and a state-of-the art water recycling facility (Water Factory).   Temporary signs called out the names of future streets and recently installed curbs made it easy for visitors to see the layout of streets, thoroughfares and roundabouts.

Commercial real estate brokers from Santa Clarita and other Los Angeles County regions were invited to tour the 57,000 square foot commercial building and afforded a unique opportunity to view the development through a drone-mounted camera. This is the first of five mixed-use buildings planned along Lincoln Place, Vista Canyon’s “Main Street” of retail, dining, entertainment and employment.

Li Win, principal of Gensler, the globally renowned architect behind the building’s design, addressed guests pointing out various innovative and sustainable features of the structure. Highlights include solar panels, open, flexible floor plans, outdoor balconies, expansive and operable windows (allowing both natural light and fresh air to flow freely), along with textured stone and metalwork. The flagship building introduces a new level of creative office space to the eastern Santa Clarita Valley and establishes an upscale commercial, retail and entertainment destination for the area.   While the second and third floors will provide premier office space, the ground level of the building will offer a variety of enticing food and retail tenants.   The building will be ready for occupancy by the end of this year.

Earlier in the spring, a group of front line city service staff members from the City of Santa Clarita were given an up-close look at the progress at Vista Canyon.  JSB Development, the planners and developers of Vista Canyon, hosted an update and site visit for close to eighty members of the Neighborhood Services Division, which includes the City’s Special Districts, Environmental Services, Parks, Library and Transit departments.

The group also visited the community’s future water reclamation facility, which will also be completed by the end of the year. The water-wise facility will provide recycled water to completely serve Vista Canyon and offer similar service to a number of nearby neighborhoods.
