In his welcoming remarks, JSB Founder/President Jim Backer noted, “We’ve been grateful for insights from the community. Vista Canyon will be a place where people can easily get to shops, restaurants, work and home. And they’ll have lots of choices—they can walk, bike or take a train. They don’t have to have a car.”

Bill Fain, Design Partner with internationally renowned architect Johnson Fain, outlined the innovative design and visionary thinking behind Vista Canyon’s master plan. “Vista Canyon is about providing a sustainable, walkable, exceptional quality of life with easy access to, from and around the community. It’s about connections – within the community and to greater Southern California. The design embraces and enhances the property’s natural environs including oak trees and the Santa Clara River.”

Santa Clarita Mayor Marsha McLean also underscored her support of the project.  Speaking of the City’s partnership with Vista Canyon’s Transit Station, she said, “Many cities want to do something like this regionally… Well, we’re doing it!  Santa Clarita is one of the most innovative cities and this [new Vista Canyon community] just proved it!” Vista Canyon’s design puts terrific amenities and services within walking distance of homes, work centers, recreation and transportation.

The opportunities created by Vista Canyon will extend beyond the City of Santa Clarita. SCV Economic Development President Holly Schroeder said, “Vista Canyon creates a significant and exciting new job center on the east side of the Santa Clarita Valley – already one of L.A.’s fastest growing office and retail destinations.  The Transit Center will make Vista Canyon especially attractive to future employers.”
