Yep. We go there! Vista Canyon’s future Transit Center will offer residents and commuters a number of great ways to travel in, out and around town. Located in the heart of Vista Canyon’s Town Square, the Transit Center features two components: a City Bus Transfer Station followed by a new Metrolink Station and adjacent parking structure. The Vista Canyon Bus Transfer Station will provide a sister location to the City’s existing Valencia facility and is fully funded through grants and transit fees. Santa Clarita’s colorful buses have become a popular, dependable and convenient commuting option for many Santa Clarita residents traveling across town or out of the Valley. We expect construction to begin early next year.
The Metrolink Station is continuing to move forward. When complete, we expect it to become a key link in the popular Antelope Valley line running from Lancaster to Los Angeles Union Station.
The City recently approved funding for the design, engineering and project management of the station platform and new transit rail. In May, the City approved a special Community Facilities District (CFD) over Vista Canyon’s for-lease apartments and Town Square office and retail areas. This assessment, which does not include for-sale homes, creates a funding structure that will go a long way in enabling construction of the transit facilities to meet an anticipated start date in 2018.
