Vista Canyon has achieved a new milestone: the Santa Clarita City Council has awarded a construction contract to Los Angeles-based Icon West for $23.7 million to build the community’s Metrolink train station.

The new station will join the bus transfer station already under construction since late January to create a public transportation hub for the community. The state-of-the-art infrastructure and frequency of public transportation service will enable Vista Canyon to be truly “car-optional” and conveniently connected to other communities. The new station will become part of Metrolink’s Antelope Valley Line, which runs between the Lancaster and Los Angeles Union Station. The Transit Department of the City of Santa Clarita projects 427,000 local trips and 45,000 commuter trips boarding and alighting in Vista Canyon each year during normal operations.

The design of the Metrolink station ensures both safety and convenience for pedestrians through a center track platform. There will also be a new railroad bridge, sound walls, approximately one mile of new railroad track and amenities including canopies, lighting, benches, landscaping and a security system.
