Like many successful small business owners, Patrick Prager, owner of Edge Martial Arts, began his business with a clear vision – to provide martial arts students with the same life-changing experiences that he had personally benefited from since he was six years old. Combining the discipline and skills of martial arts with the undeniable social-emotional benefits of participating in a supportive community, Prager has had the pleasure of watching numerous transformations in the lives of his students.

With zero students and big dreams, Prager opened his studio in 2016. Just four years after opening, Prager’s classes had well over 100 students, and the business had clearly outgrown its facility. After careful consideration and planning, Prager chose Vista Canyon as the perfect place to expand his business and begin this new chapter.

After relocating to Vista Canyon in 2020, Prager was immediately met with the challenges of a growing Covid-19 pandemic. Forced to innovate right away, Prager was able to utilize the common courtyard space at Vista Canyon to offer outdoor classes. With twice the amount of indoor mat space in the new facility, he was also able to offer socially distanced classes for more students. “I could not have continued classes in my old location, there was just no room,” Prager tells us. With the help and support of the Vista Canyon team, he was able to keep his doors open and the kicks flying.

As the first retail tenant in the Gensler Building, Edge Martial Arts studio has brought a thriving community of teachers and students to the area. The new residential development at Vista Canyon gives Prager incredible excitement to reach new students and families in the future. With more homes being built every day, more new retail moving in and unmatched transit accessibility, Vista Canyon was the place to take his business to the next level. Stop in and check out all that’s happening at Edge Martial Arts and Vista Canyon.
